Description

DSIP, or Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide, is a nine-amino-acid neuropeptide first identified in the 1970s and studied for its role in promoting slow-wave (delta) sleep, the deep restorative stage of the sleep cycle.
Isolated from rabbit brain in 1977 by researchers at the University of Basel, it has been studied for sleep modulation, stress response regulation, and pain attenuation over more than four decades.
It is not an approved sleep medication and is intended for research use rather than as a first-line treatment for insomnia.

Side effects and precautions: Early human studies found DSIP to be reasonably well tolerated, with
one small trial in six healthy volunteers finding increased sleep without any observed psychological, physiological, or biochemical side effects
. Still,
its long-term safety has not been well established and the risks of chronic use remain unclear
. Use caution combining it with other sedatives or anxiolytics, since
interactions with medications that have sedative or anxiolytic effects have not been extensively studied
